Carrie Bradshaw

The Gay Icon of Sex and the City series is Stanford Blatch.

For past few weeks we have been discussing about the male characters, prominent on the series Sex and the City and we already have covered Aidan Shaw, Mr. Big etc. Let us now take a break here from the usual and talk about the most visible gay character, Stanford Blatch on the show, who is also at times referred to as the 5th lady on the series, owing to his proximity to Carrie.
Seasoned actor Willie Garson has enacted the character for all the six seasons of Sex and the City and even reprised it in the movie that followed.
Stanford is basically a talent agent and hails from a well – bred and titled family background. If you observe his style sense, you would know that it can only be compared to that of Carrie Bradshaw.

It is sometimes attributed that the duo have been friends since the 1980s when they were young and used to have fun in the New York City bar and club scenario. On the show, Stanford does say that he has been a friend of Carrie since she used to wear Candies and travel in subways.
Stanford, although has his own independent story plot given that he is an important supporting character, is shown as a kind of person who is gay but has to suffer at times for his physical inabilities and insufficiency.
The fifth season of the series saw him going out with Marcus Adente, a Broadway dancer and at times he is also linked up with Charlotte’s friend and a wedding planner named Anthony Marentino who also is gay, as they are both seen kissing in the film.
So, this was all about Stanford Baltch. The response that we are getting from our readers is overwhelming. We thank you all, please do keep writing to us, it is really a wonderful moment to sit back and sift through the feedback that we receive.
That is all for now, will be back next week with another character to discuss and talk about.

The substitute to Mr. Big for Carrie at Sex and the City is Aidan Shaw.

Greetings to all those who are reading this. Today we are going to discuss Aidan Shaw, the furniture designer from Manhattan who also happens to be Carrie’s lover that is whenever she is not with Mr. Big.
John Corbett portrayed for three seasons (Season, 3, season 4 and Season 6) this very important character as he is second only to Big in Carrie’s love life.
For you all to recall, Stanford Blatch, a friend of Carrie sees Aidan’s picture in a newspaper and takes her to his shop. This is how love ignited and blossomed between the two. However, the affair ends soon as Carrie tells him about her relationship with Big during Charlotte’s wedding.

They get back to dating very soon and even get engaged to each other. This time Carrie pulls away from commitment as she is not prepared for wedding and Aidan simply does not want to wait. The last time Aidan is seen on the show is on the 6th season with a wife and a child, which pleases Carrie very much.

Sex and the City Episodes – Aidan Shaw

If you look at it closely, it seems that Aidan really suffered a lot at the hands of Carrie. An unstable and fluctuating relationship does no good to anyone.
But then there is a view that exists about Carrie pulling up her relationship with Aidan really well. She does not make any false promises, is averse on cheating upon him and best of it is that they keep in touch, which is evident from the fact that he drops by to introduce his child and wife to her and she is very happy for him.
Nowadays one seldom finds such men or such women or even relationships which have such depth and such understanding.
So what are your views and ideas on Aidan Shaw and on Aidan and Carrie’s relationship?
Keep writing to us, we are always eager to know your thoughts and comments.

The intellectual writer companion for Carrie Bradshaw at Sex and the City is Jack Berger

Hello all.
Continuing with are series on the male characters featuring in our favorite show Sex and the City, we are today talking about Jack Berger, a character so very well by film and TV actor, Ron Livingston for broadly two seasons of the show, i.e. the fifth and the sixth season.
He is the scornful satirical writer and a companion of Carrie intellectually and not just sexually as many of her other dates and lovers have been (I recall here the first episode of the sixth season, where Carrie was so very edgy about her first ever date with jack). The problem however is that while his career is scaling down, Carrie’s going very well. Even as they have an affair that many of us common folks will love to have, ingrained with amusing chitchat and so many similar thinking but the relationship between the both breaks badly with his loss and her gain confronting each other very badly.

Sex and the City Episodes

All this is basically for books, as hers is not only accepted for publishing is very successful too, but his is rejected by the publishers I guess.
Also Carrie on an occasion criticizes the book written by Jack and is on some events uncomfortable with his ex-girlfriends.
Many of us will remember the style in which he leaves her, with a Post – it note that reads,
"I'm sorry, I can't, don't hate me".
Touching isn’t it? Do write in your comments and views for all us to read here.

Sex and the City Show Summary

Based on the popular novel ‘Sex and the City’ by New York based columnist Candace Bushnell, Sex and City Tv Show is a comedy drama show which focuses on four young and aspiring New York bachelorettes , in their thirties, one in forties, showcasing their bizarre sex lives and their quest for the perfect relationship and orgasm!!
The HBO series started on June 6, 1998 and went on for six seasons, finishing on 22nd February, 2004.

Newspaper columnist or ‘Sexual anthropologist’ as she calls herself, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) writes extensively on the dating scene of Manhattan. She sometimes has her other three close friends helping her in scooping out some info about sex and relationship, Samantha (Kim Catrall), a public relations executive; Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), a lawyer and Charlotte (Kristin Davis). All four of them having very different perspectives and varying personalities but maintaining the solid good friendship. The show also throws light on various socially sensitive issues like safety in sex, one night stands, sexually transmitted diseases, dating many partners at the same time etc albeit in a light fashion. Also very realistically portrayed is the dynamic life of professional women in the late nineties.

The thrust of the pilot episode, directed by Susan Seidelman is on women who are very uncommitted in their sexual lives.

Recession to be the fashion at the next Sex and the City Movie

It seems that the crisis raging large over the economies of the world, would make its presence felt on the sequel of the Sex and the City movie as well.
Yes, the fashion feast does not seem to be that gala, feeling the heat of the times of recession.

Sarah Jessica Parker A.K.A. Carrie Bradshaw, was quoted by the famous, Access Hollywood as saying, "There is a lot that we have to think about because times are very different. So these are nice challenges, these are good challenges ……… How do we do that well? And how do we do that in a not-lazy way? ………. How do we address these economic times in a franchise that has a lot to do with luxury and labels?"

Now this really sounds interesting. Imagine Mrs. Big, cutting down on her fashion budge and that too along with having fun… would be something interesting to watch. Yeah this one promises loads of fun and excitement.
Don’t believe me?

Hear what Parker, who is also the co- producer of both of the TV series and the films has to say on it, "The last one, we got to tell a really mature, sophisticated story that had real heartbreak in it, and this time, I think we want a romp ………………We want our audience to have a massive romp."

Well, I would say that checking out the massive and expensive wardrobe of Carrie Bradshaw will make any financial expert choke.

The news of the sequel is already out and the fans I hear, are anticipating eagerly for more news and details regarding the film.

Keeping in account the huge amount of earning by the first movie and the phenomenon, the TV show Sex and the City is, I don’t think that any recession is going to affect the movie’s fortunes.

But what is the best way, to show and handle economic crisis on the big screen???

All about the book, ‘Sex and the City’ by Candace Bushnell

Hey people! All of us know that our favorite show, Sex and the City is loosely based upon the book of the same name. I read the book recently and wanted to share with you all, some thoughts regarding it.

The book, Sex and the City is written by Candace Bushnell and published by Warner books and is basically a compilation of essays, best classified under the chick lit genre of books. Amazingly, after it was first published in August of 1997, it was again put in the press in 2001, 2006 and again in 2008 to celebrate its first decade anniversary which happened together with the release of the movie that was based on the TV series.

So the book contains text which is based on the columns written by Bushnell in 1994, in The New York Observer. But I say that the book and the show are definitely not copy cats of each other.

The basic concept of revolving the whole story from viewpoint of Carrie Bradshaw, a columnist remains intact on the show as well. But unlike it happens on the show, Carrie’s escapades are more diverse and also her main friend circle is larger than the three main friends shown on the series.

This thing I must say was better on the TV show. Elevating Samantha Jones, Miranda Hobbs and Charlotte York as major characters on the show, really worked well and their minor roles on the book, were bit disappointing, at least for me. There is also quite a lot of difference of their personalities. Like take the example of lawyer Miranda, who is a cable manager in the book. The public relations agent Samantha is basically a film producer in the anthology and Charlotte, the traditional, inexperienced and prim rich lady is a sex – maniac, according to the book.

Many other characters and instances from the book have been featured, quite well on the show.

The book is widely available, both in hardcover as well as paperback. Do check it out as you watch and download your desired episodes of the show from this website.
Also write in your opinions on the book and the differences you observed between the two and read up what others have jotted in.

Ciao!!!

Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick to split???

The actress, best known for her role in 'Sex and the City' as Carrie Bradshaw, is facing some tough moments in her marriage life as her husband, actor Matthew Broderick is seemingly having an romantic affair with a twenty five year old beauty.

Now the trouble is the enormous wealth she has made for herself. She is worried that Matthew may claim a large amount of money.

As quoted in the Look magazine by a source: "Sarah's family was poor when she was a child. She had seven brothers and sisters and she's often talked about missing out on birthday presents when she was young …. It seems she's freaking out over the thought that Matthew could walk away with an enormous sum of money."

The couple has a child too, James Wilkie who is six years old and it’s for James that the couple put up a united face over some social occasions like it happened on Christmas.

Of course, one cannot obtain the exact figures but Sarah is said to have earned a whooping £110 million during her acting career, which is much larger then what Matthew has ever earned. Much of this wealth is due to the enormous success of the TV series Sex and the City, in which she played the lead actress.

Even her remuneration for the 'Sex and the City: The Movie' sequel is being estimated somewhere near £35 million.

Another quote from a magazine reads "Sarah Jessica is determined to get her own place and bring down the curtains on her marriage. They're essentially living separate lives. The truth is, Sarah and Matthew still do love and care about each other, they just aren't in love, and they don't want to waste any more time trying to repair something that's irreparable."

Oh ok. Well, it looks like another lovely couple parting ways. Good luck to them from all the fans.

Do comment in, on what you feel about this news.

Ciao!!!
