For past few weeks we have been discussing about the male characters, prominent on the series Sex and the City and we already have covered Aidan Shaw, Mr. Big etc. Let us now take a break here from the usual and talk about the most visible gay character, Stanford Blatch on the show, who is also at times referred to as the 5th lady on the series, owing to his proximity to Carrie.
Seasoned actor Willie Garson has enacted the character for all the six seasons of Sex and the City and even reprised it in the movie that followed.
Stanford is basically a talent agent and hails from a well – bred and titled family background. If you observe his style sense, you would know that it can only be compared to that of Carrie Bradshaw.

It is sometimes attributed that the duo have been friends since the 1980s when they were young and used to have fun in the New York City bar and club scenario. On the show, Stanford does say that he has been a friend of Carrie since she used to wear Candies and travel in subways.
Stanford, although has his own independent story plot given that he is an important supporting character, is shown as a kind of person who is gay but has to suffer at times for his physical inabilities and insufficiency.
The fifth season of the series saw him going out with Marcus Adente, a Broadway dancer and at times he is also linked up with Charlotte’s friend and a wedding planner named Anthony Marentino who also is gay, as they are both seen kissing in the film.

Greetings to all those who are reading this. Today we are going to discuss Aidan Shaw, the furniture designer from Manhattan who also happens to be Carrie’s lover that is whenever she is not with Mr. Big.
John Corbett portrayed for three seasons (Season, 3, season 4 and Season 6) this very important character as he is second only to Big in Carrie’s love life.
For you all to recall, Stanford Blatch, a friend of Carrie sees Aidan’s picture in a newspaper and takes her to his shop. This is how love ignited and blossomed between the two. However, the affair ends soon as Carrie tells him about her relationship with Big during Charlotte’s wedding.

They get back to dating very soon and even get engaged to each other. This time Carrie pulls away from commitment as she is not prepared for wedding and Aidan simply does not want to wait. The last time Aidan is seen on the show is on the 6th season with a wife and a child, which pleases Carrie very much.

If you look at it closely, it seems that Aidan really suffered a lot at the hands of Carrie. An unstable and fluctuating relationship does no good to anyone.
But then there is a view that exists about Carrie pulling up her relationship with Aidan really well. She does not make any false promises, is averse on cheating upon him and best of it is that they keep in touch, which is evident from the fact that he drops by to introduce his child and wife to her and she is very happy for him.
Nowadays one seldom finds such men or such women or even relationships which have such depth and such understanding.

Hello all.
Continuing with are series on the male characters featuring in our favorite show Sex and the City, we are today talking about Jack Berger, a character so very well by film and TV actor, Ron Livingston for broadly two seasons of the show, i.e. the fifth and the sixth season.
He is the scornful satirical writer and a companion of Carrie intellectually and not just sexually as many of her other dates and lovers have been (I recall here the first episode of the sixth season, where Carrie was so very edgy about her first ever date with jack). The problem however is that while his career is scaling down, Carrie’s going very well. Even as they have an affair that many of us common folks will love to have, ingrained with amusing chitchat and so many similar thinking but the relationship between the both breaks badly with his loss and her gain confronting each other very badly.

All this is basically for books, as hers is not only accepted for publishing is very successful too, but his is rejected by the publishers I guess.
Also Carrie on an occasion criticizes the book written by Jack and is on some events uncomfortable with his ex-girlfriends.
Many of us will remember the style in which he leaves her, with a Post – it note that reads,
"I'm sorry, I can't, don't hate me".

Greetings to all the Sex and the City  fans out there.
Today I am going to throw light upon Harry Goldenblatt (character portrayed by Evan Handler in the series and also in the movie) the Jewish solicitor specializing in divorce and whom we see in the last two seasons of the show and then in the movie as well.

Even as Harry is totally head over heals for Charlotte, she initially prefers just sex based relationship with him. One thing leads to another and slowly both are in deeply in love. For Charlotte, this turns out very well, as her relationship with Trey was nothing or the word unsatisfactory will fit here, as compared to her love for Harry.
Ups and Downs happen in almost all relationships. Even Charlotte and Harry had their share of it, especially when she converts into Judaism for Harry’s sake and fulfill his wish to marry a Jew and in another instance when they have this huge fight which causes them to part ways for some time.

The bond however is too strong for distances to interfere and soon they marry each other and even consider conceiving a child or adopting one. By the end, they even get consent for the adoption of a Chinese girl who is later christened Lily. This they do in the subsequence of a miscarriage, Charlotte has to experience, and the difficulties she faces in getting pregnant.
If you all have seen the movie, and I am sure, most of you have done that, Charlotte and Harry have a girl together as well who they name Rose.
This was just a little bit on Harry Goldenblatt, an unusual surname to me at least, but a fascinating character on the show, nevertheless.

In this part of our blog series on male characters of Sex and the City, we are going to talk about Smith Jerrod, a character enacted by former model Jason Lewis for the sixth season of the show and also in the movie based on this TV series.
Samantha Jones is the one to make the first move on this young waiter, working at this happening restraint named ‘Raw’, but she is mostly interested in sex (the couple even tries out a variety of their sexual fantasies), whereas this chap is looking for bit more. Since he wishes to be an actor one day, so Samantha the PR girl, takes out all her talent and goes out of her way to fulfill the ambitions of Smith. First, she gets him out of his current job and alters his name from Jerry Jerrod to Smith Jerrod (which was a good idea, considering that Smith is much better suited on him). Then she even manages to get him some modeling work which leads into a role in a movie. She also manages a billboard for him on Times Square.
But of course there is an age gap and time gap that exists. This is more of a concern for Samantha than Smith. But time takes care of this as well, because when it is the time for Samantha to confront breast cancer, she finds Smith always by her side.

The last episode sees Smith coming back from a shooting in Canada to express his love for Samantha, to which she says:
"You have meant more to me than any man I've ever known."
Now I think by any standards this line is too very much, especially by Samantha’s standards.
Anyway love rules everywhere, and it rules here as well. So this is about Jerrod. One season and one film only, but already etched out so very well in our minds that sometimes some people think that he has been on the show since its inception.

It is Monday once again and here I come with yet another installment of the exclusive blog series, about all the men who were integral part of the Sex and City.
It is the eighth episode of the second season of the show and enters a sensitive bartender named Steve Brady who eventually becomes the love of Miranda Hobbes’ life, weds her later towards the sixth season’s end and even father her child (Brady Hobbes) in the fourth season.
But the going is not very easy as their affair is quite on and off one. Steve is a unique character in himself as most of the male characters that have been portrayed in the show, are unstable mentally or emotionally. Mary Brady is his mother and also an alcoholic and she too has a lot of influence on Steve’s life.
David Eigenberg not only wonderfully performed this role in five seasons of the show but also reprised this character in the Sex and the City movie as well.

The reason for this fluctuating relationship between Steve and Miranda, if you see the show carefully, was their totally parallel thought process, their social status, different work styles, ambitions etc. Steve also got to be so well liked as the audience felt sympathy connect with the man who really faced a lot emotionally being in relationship with Miranda and still he continued to love her softer side.

My personal favorite incident I recall is when Steve had this cancer, I mean, I know that a cancer is never funny, but still testicular cancer? And the way they showed it?
So all in all a good man, owner of a bar named Scout and later he moves in with Miranda to Brooklyn at the end of the show after a small and personal wedding.
